Northern Shaolin Spear
Chiang Chuan ~ Qiang Shu ~ Spear Play Skill Form
The Shaolin Spear is considered the "King Of Weapons" because of its use of superior techniques, however, it is very difficult to master. It is characterized with quick and agile techniques. The form taught by the Academy allows you to use the spear as a Long Weapon, a Medium Range Weapon like a staff, and a short weapon like a knife, making it a very versitialle weapon. The Chinese spear is referred to as a Chiang. Spears are used by both Northern and Southern stylists. Spears have been used by mounted riders, foot soldiers, and as a projectile weapon too. The spear was developed going back into pre-historic times and fashioned as a sharp stick. As time went on, it eveolved into a weapons with metal heads which were sharp and then finally hooks were added to the pointed blades.
